Year 493 of the Second Age

The Year of the Scythe

(161st Year of the 6th Unknown King of Duinnor)

§
Duinnor begins to place markers around the borders of Nasakeeria in an effort to warn and forbid travelers from crossing the ring of bones that so many choose to ignore. The markers are pillars of stone, standing eight feet high, each with a large carving of a skull at the top. Also, each marker is inscribed with a written warning for all to turn back. Beginning at the westernmost border of Nasakeeria, Duinnor seeks to place a marker approximately every three to five hundred yards, proceeding north and eastward. However, the project is beset with difficulties, controversy, and delays. It will be nearly sixty years before it is completed.
